Sicily becomes to know and appreciate through a new point of view through the identity of the territories, the agricultural and wine production of tradition, the landscapes of crops in the transformations dictated by the times of nature.

It is a narrative of Sicily that is known for extended to villages, castles, places of contemporary art, literary itineraries linked to the foremost Sicilian writers, areas of culture, parks and archaeological sites, oases and nature reserves. The historical trains of taste build a proposal dedicated to tourism of travellers attentive to the landscapes and its past and artistic testimonies, to the Sicilian productions and preparations that are respectful of the times of nature, to the values of the territories that constitute the most authentic and most profound identity of the communities that live them.

The project is carried out in collaboration with the State Railways Foundation. It provides a precious and valuable park of locomotives, railcars and historic carriages, ensures bus connections to the territory along the routes that partly travel parallel to the tracks of the disused railways, extends, thanks to the collaboration with the Circumetnea Railroad, the possible routes to visit the railway ring that runs all the way around Etna on narrow-gauge rails. Another partner of the project is Slow Food Sicily, which with its locals involves passengers in Taste Workshops to tell the story of the excellent products of the area included among the Convivia and the products of the Ark of Taste and promotes the meeting with producers who best represent the material culture of the communities.

The excellent response, recorded by the twenty-three different itineraries and fifty races conducted from July to December of the 2018 edition, has led to dedicated to the 2019 project a program of fifty-two various courses, carried out from spring until the threshold of winter involving eighty-seven municipalities as starting points or stops to visit the routes planned. Six of the fifty-two itineraries are designed with the weekend formula, to build themed roads of the discovery of Sicily with a broader scope and ensure a slow approach to the travel experience proposed.

The 2019 edition enriched by the collaboration with the Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, is useful to build paths of knowledge of the territory in its historical and cultural values, and with the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, to extend the narrative to Sicilian food and wine products that have received official recognition of quality. Collaboration has already begun with the local communities on the planned stops to make them co-protagonists in the activities of cultural animation and the construction of the story of the territories.

Chocomodica, Salina Slow Food Island (Salina Isola Slow) and the Mediterranean Horse Show are the three events included among the stages of the 2019 program that belongs to the Calendar of Major Events in Sicily, reserving the races with the historic steam locomotive to the three days of the exhibition event that will take place at the Ambelia Estate.

The travel program of the new edition also extends to the waterways to Mozia, Favignana, Lipari and Salina, thus building travel routes that aim to restore the sense of the rich cultural complexity of Sicily "island between islands".

The two-year agreement signed with the State Railways Foundation has also made it possible to build the 2020 calendar. This enables the implementation of an adequate programming of activities to promote Sicily and the territories, creating the conditions to extend the audience of potential travelers to the segment of national and international tourism, which will be proposed a communication on the places (guided tours, brochure) and online (website and social media dedicated to the project) in Italian and English.
